Die Walküre Kirsten Flagstad Marjorie Lauritz Melchior 1940 RARE
A very rare recording with the most brilliant first magnitude stars of the Wagnerian art: Kirsten Flagstad (Brünnhilde) and Marjorie Lawrence (Sieglinde) together, along with the champion of Wagner heldentenor roles, Lauritz Melchior. An exceptional document capturing Julius Huehn's promising and impressive Wotan. Huehn was the Met's next hopeful for Wotan after the aging Schorr. The war cut into Huehn's career and voice, though, and he unfortunately returned from duty with his voice distressingly diminished. This is considered the best recording of his Wotan.
